"This review may be a little early as I just got my cast off my nose today...but I am over the moon. I don't know how Dr. Keyes does it, and I'll admit I was skeptical while the cast was on as the cast and tape can distort things. I was actually a nervous wreck. But when that cast came off today, it reduced me to happy tears. He did everything I wanted and more. My nose is now straight, and it looks amazing. Even swollen I love it! I can breathe through my left nostril for the first time and it feels so good. I seriously feel like a new person. I'm so excited to see how it progresses over the next year. Dr. Keyes was the only consultation I had, and for a second it crossed my mind, did I jump the gun on this? Do I need a second opinion? Something in my gut trusted him. And I'm so glad my gut was right. His reviews and his before and after photos on his website speak for themselves. I am so thankful to Dr. Keyes and Kimberly. They're so easy to reach and they care about you just as much before the surgery as they do after. They are wonderful. Couldn't recommend them more. I am so happy. Thank you Dr. Keyes and Kimberly. From the bottom of my heart!"- S.B. / Yelp / Nov 05, 2019
"I know my surgery is recent but I’m happy I picked them over others I consulted with. - First and foremost Dr. Keyes and Kimberley, his surgical assistant, are the best. As soon as I went in for my Consultation they both made me feel comfortable. Dr. Keyes is well regarded in the rhinoplasty society. When I got my surgery done on June 22, 2020 I was super nervous but Kimberley was there by my side keeping me calm. Dr. Keyes did exactly what I wanted on my nose. Kimberley is great in staying in touch with you seeing how your healing and if you’re ok. I know my surgery is recent but I’m happy I picked them over others I consulted with. I would definitely refer him in a heartbeat."- G. / RealSelf / Jul 01, 2020
"I started considering rhinoplasty when I was 16, I am 28. I hated my nose, the shape and the size. I tried for many many years to love as it was. But to be honest, I always knew one day I would take the step. Los Angeles has a big offer of plastic surgeons, and is hard to know who is good and who is the best. After some months of research, I narrowed my options and had two consultations with two different surgeons. From the very first second I knew Dr.keyes would be my surgeon. I am a really hypochondriac person, and Dr.keyes and Kimberly made me feel confident, safe and comfortable during the whole process. The day of the surgery I was really nervous and everyone made it really easy for me. Post op is painless, just uncomfortable. Dr Keyes and Kim were available for me 24/7in case I had any question or concern. That really makes a difference. I am one month post op and even swollen, I looooove my nose, it changes your life. It is natural, fits my face and I could not be any happier. If you are thinking about having a rhinoplasty, Dr.Keyes and Kimberly are the team you are looking for, thank you both!!"- S.R. / Yelp / Feb 04, 2020
"Rhinoplasty - I'm scheduled to have rhinoplasty with dr Geoffrey Keyes in LA. I had my consultation and I had my pictures taken and then photoshopped by the dr to show me what he can do with my nose. He is nice and very straight forward and gives his honest opinion on what realistically can be done. I told him I want a really small Barbie nose . He said he can give me that but it also all depends on what happens in the OR , but I told him to go as small as my body will allow. I'm also interested in lip lift and fillers so I'm going to call tomorrow to see if that can be done as well."- M. / RealSelf / Feb 02, 2020
"3 weeks after my procedure and I couldn't be happier with my results. Dr. Keyes and Kimberly have been there every step of the way during recovery. I definitely recommend them."- L.M. / Google / Oct 16, 2020
You have several factors to take into consideration when deciding which laser peel treatment is best for your skin. Laser skin resurfacing is designed for anyone who is unsatisfied with their general complexion. If you see sun damage, age spots, acne scars, lax skin, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, or redness concerns, your laser skin resurfacing may be needed to address these cosmetic flaws. Also, laser skin resurfacing is wonderful for a rough texture, scaly patches, or other skin surface problems. A laser peel isn't suggested for anyone who has very dark skin tones or active acne outbreaks. Also, it's important to be aware that there is a recovery period needed after laser skin resurfacing. Certain patients, based on their skin condition, may require as much as 2 – 3 weeks for recovery.
When you are scheduled for a more intense or deeper laser resurfacing treatment, you may be given retinoid cream for 2 – 3 weeks before your laser procedure. The retinoid helps prep the skin for better results. Medication may be prescribed prior to the procedure to help minimize any pain for greater relaxation throughout your appointment and at home in recovery. If your complexion only needs mild improvement, a topical anesthetic may be applied to numb treated areas of the face. For the whole complexion or deeper laser procedures, a form of anesthesia may be used. Throughout the procedure, you can relax in our special treatment chair while the laser hand-piece passes over your skin, directly targeting the specific sections for resurfacing. You may feel a warmth from the laser followed with cold air from the system's built-in cooling device. The laser energy is designed to eliminate dead and damaged skin cells while also prompting natural collagen production.
What to Expect
After your laser skin resurfacing with our CO2 laser, your treated skin will look irritated, pink, and swollen for several days. You will most likely need to take a few days off of work so that you can recover in the privacy of your home. The deeper your laser peel goes into your skin, the longer your recovery will last. We will teach you how to care for your skin. You will need to protect your facial skin and change out bandages if needed. Pain medication may be prescribed to minimize your symptoms. The recovery time for a more intense laser peel may last several weeks.
For all peel intensities, the treated skin will naturally crust, flake, and peel off. It's vital to avoid accelerating the recovery process to prevent scarring and to shield the treated area from UV exposure. After the peeling is finished, the treated skin should feel smoother while also appearing rejuvenated, younger, and clearer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does laser skin resurfacing cost?
Your laser resurfacing cost will depend on the treatment type you choose. During your initial consultation, Dr. Keyes will assess your skin issues before discussing the types of laser resurfacing available. After this, he will help you select your resurfacing treatment and talk to you about costs. Geoffrey R. Keyes, M.D., F.A.C.S. regularly offers skin treatment specials and packages, so ask for more information in your appointment.
What is the best type of resurfacing for me?
Dr. Keyes can help you choose which resurfacing option fits your concerns and goals in your initial consultation. What treatment is best for you will depend on the health of your skin, any skin problems, and the skin depth you want your treatment to reach. The length of recovery time might also be an important consideration when you create a treatment plan. If you are unsure, it is better to try a milder treatment then assess your outcomes and decide if you want something stronger for your second appointment.
How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?
Dr. Keyes or someone on his staff will give you tips on ways to speed skin healing following your treatment. The number one rule is to not peel or pick flaking skin. Doing this can lead to long-term damage like scars. You need to forgo all hair removal methods on the treated skin, which includes waxing, shaving, or depilatory creams. We can suggest cream to help soothe treated areas.
How often should I get laser resurfacing treatments?
Based on the laser resurfacing method you and Dr. Keyes choose for your skin, you might need to wait a few weeks or even a few months between treatments. Deep laser treatments will give you results that last a long time; however, they do need more time for recovery. You should tell Dr. Keyes about how frequently you want to return for appointments so he can consider this when suggesting a treatment plan in your initial consultation.
